On 20 April 2024, 65 members and friends of the club gathered in Grevenmacher on "M.S. Princess Marie-Astrid" to celebrate RWB's 50th anniversary. During the cruise on the river Moselle some historical highlights have been presented:

50 YEARS OF THE "ROUT-WÄISS-BLO LËTZEBUERG" (RWB) DANCE CLUB

50 years ago, the "Danzsportclub Rout-Wäiss-Blo Lëtzebuerg" (RWB) a.s.b.l. was founded, together with 2 other clubs, by a dance school.

Under its first president, Jean-André Stammet, the club strove for independence from the outset in order to represent the interests of dance sports enthusiasts in the best possible way.

Autonomy was quickly achieved, but fair co-operation within the association was unfortunately more difficult. Due to many disagreements, including a lifelong ban for J.A. Stammet, the RWB's competition couples danced under foreign licences for many years.

Only through the foundation of a 2nd World Amateur Dance Federation, in which a newly founded second Luxembourgish dance federation could become a member, were the couples and dancers of the RWB once again given the opportunity to compete under the Luxembourgish flag. This enabled the RWB to organise dance tournaments again in recent years, the GOLDEN-LADY TROPHY, which will be held again this year on 21 September for the 9th time and has now also become a popular and well-attended tournament abroad.

Despite all the nastiness, the RWB has an impressive record after 50 years. Couples like: Roland and Brigitte Fürpass-Hamm, Pierre and Marianne Pignolo-Lesczynski, Raymond and Jeannine Manes-Hellenbrand, Serge Schonckert and Sybille Dominicy, Serge Schonckert and Pascale Thull, David Pereira and Sandy Kirsch, Pierre and Isabelle Ewert-Duhazé, Henri and Francine Leboutte, Georges and Chantal Rach, Guy and Barbara Wiesen, have all honoured the name of the RWB over the years.
Jean-Marie Cueulenaere and Frank Morche were the first same-sex couple in Luxembourg. They even crowned their successful career with a world championship title.

For 25 years, the couple Josée and Jean-André Stammet was active on the dance floor and was able to show remarkable successes such as: 23 national championship titles, 2 times Benelux Champions, 3 times IDTA Champions, London Champions, Imperial Champions, victories in St. Petersburg, on the Gold Coast (Australia), Île de la Réunion, 7th place at the World Championships in Australia, 2 times runner-up at the U.S. Open in Miami and many more.

Peggy and Serge Quazzotti have now been active in dance sport/RWB for 30 years! Thanks to their world-class coaches, they also have top results to show, such as: 2 finals at the World Championships in Italy, Benelux champion, 2 winners of the Golden Lady Trophy in Luxembourg, regular participation in finals at internationally renowned competitions.

However, all these successes are only possible, among other things, because since its foundation 50 years ago, the club has been provided with a training hall in Luxembourg-Bonneweg by the municipality of Luxembourg, where the couples can train intensively.

To celebrate the club's 50th birthday, the board invited its members and sympathisers to a boat trip on the "M.S. Princesse Marie-Astrid".
This was the occasion to honour various deserving club members. Josée and Jean-André Stammet were honoured as founding members, club officials and sportsmen. Peggy and Serge Quazzotti were also honoured for 30 years of commitment at all levels. On behalf of many honorary members, Henriette and Jos Nothum-Rodesch also received a small token of appreciation.

Afterwards, the cruise guests were able to devote themselves to dancing. Everyone got their money's worth to the sounds of musicman Mike Poiré's infectious music.
All in all, a worthy celebration with music, excellent food, professional service and typical "M.S. Princesse Marie-Astrid" ambience. Ad multos annos, RWB !
